Here Are Some Of My Client's Most FAQs

WHAT WEBSITE PLATFORMS DO YOU DESIGN FOR?

I primarily design for WordPress, Squarespace and Shopify platforms.

WHEN SHOULD I BOOK FOR YOUR SERVICES?

We are booking client slots about 2-3 months in advance, as our schedule books up quickly and we prefer to give our clients one on one time and attention.  A 50% nonrefundable deposit is required for your booking.

DO YOU HOST THE WEBSITES YOU BUILD?

It Depends. Clients will be responsible for purchasing the Squarespace subscription either by a month or annual fee. Shopify also requires a monthly hosting fee starting at $29. With WordPress, you must have your own hosting. You can choose from shared hosting, I recommend Bluehost, or Managed Hosting which is superior to shared... If you decide to go that route, I will bill you monthly via Flywheel for about $25 per month. You must already have a domain name - I recommend purchasing one from Bluehost if you do not already have one. If you have one you would like to transfer from another platform, I can help set that up for you.

ARE DEPOSITS REFUNDABLE?

All deposits are nonrefundable. This helps me secure spots since booking is a 2-3 month process.  If you have any other concerns or questions, please contact me.

IF I WAS SENT BY REFERRAL, AM I ELIGIBLE FOR A DISCOUNT?

Yes! Anyone who was personally referred will get a 15% discount (both parties). Provide their email and full name to hello@marydouglas.com and title the message “Referral”. I will get back to you within 4-5 business days with your discount code.

IF I AM A RETURNING CUSTOMER, AM I ELIGIBLE FOR A DISCOUNT?

I believe loyalty should be rewarded! That’s why I offer a 10% discount to all customers who book me for ongoing design and maintenance work, on all products: forever.

I PURCHASED A MONTHLY DESIGN RETAINER... WHAT HAPPENS IF I NEED MORE TIME THAN I PURCHASED??

Minor tech support and minor updates to content are usually limited to tasks under 20 minutes and total 1 hour maximum per month. Overages on time will be billed monthly at our hourly rate.

Extended tech support and updates to content are usually tasks 30 min or more and total 3 hours maximum per month. Overages on time will be billed monthly at our hourly rate.

Packages are billed monthly and any time in excess of package allowance will be billed at our regular hourly rate. Unused time does not roll from month to month.

DO YOU USE A CONTRACT?

All of my custom design projects require a signed contract and 50% nonrefundable deposit.

DO YOU WORK WITH CLIENTS AROUND THE WORLD?

Yes! I am currently located in New York City ... but the good thing about digital design is that it can be done anywhere.

DO I NEED TO HAVE MY CONTENT READY BEFORE THE PROJECT STARTS?

Yes. Delays in a project typically are around content (including images). The project runs smoothly and quickly when we are best prepared before initiating the design process. The questionnaire and client homework will help set us up with a clear direction.
